Since 8 April 2011, the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) has celebrated Girls in ICT Day annually on the fourth Thursday in April. It is an initiative that promotes the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) among young women and girls, encouraging them to pursue careers in this field. It works to inspire and encourage girls to pursue a future in ICTs and to empower them by ensuring they have the necessary skills, confidence, and support to achieve their goals.
Inclusive Digital Transformation- Girls in ICT 2025
International Girls in ICT Day 2025 was celebrated this year under the theme “Girls in ICT for inclusive digital transformation”. The initiative was launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in 2011 to promote STEM education and careers among young women, emphasizing their role in shaping a more inclusive digital future. This year, Apex celebrated this event on 22 April with workshops where girls were able to learn part of the basics of programming, how to design video games, and share their ideas and learn communication skills.
